- A property in Bolton has been closed following concerns about persistent anti-social behaviour thanks to joint action by Greater Manchester Police, Bolton Council, and Be One Homes.
The closure order relates to 56 Langthorne Walk, where residents raised repeated concerns about disorder and criminal activity linked to the address.
Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court granted the order on 16 April which states that the property must remain empty, with access restricted to authorised individuals only, until 16 July.
The move is part of our ongoing work with partner agencies to tackle behaviour that negatively impacts local communities and to support residents in feeling safe where they live.
Closure orders are legal powers available under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, designed to quickly address serious and persistent issues affecting neighbourhoods.
John Molloy, our Head of Neighbourhood Safety Services, said:
-
“This action demonstrates how seriously we take reports of antisocial behaviour. We know the situation at Langthorne Walk has been affecting residents for some time, and by working closely with Greater Manchester Police and Bolton Council, we’ve been able to take firm action to bring it to a stop.
“We're committed to creating communities where people feel safe and respected. Where necessary, we'll always use the powers available to us to deal with behaviour that falls below that standard.”
Sergeant Oliver Cooper from the Bolton South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
- "This Closure Order is yet another example of the great partnership work we can achieve when we work together. It also shows that we will not tolerate behaviour which affects our communities, so please keep reporting in your issues."
