A new chapter for Thornbank estate begins: Deane Focus Team

Our ‘Deane Focus Team’ initiative is focused on tackling key issues raised by residents, including repairs and maintenance, debt and money advice, and antisocial behaviour.

Introducing the Deane Focus Team

Our year-long project to support residents on the Thornbank estate in Bolton has officially started.

Our ‘Deane Focus Team’ initiative is focused on tackling key issues raised by residents, including repairs and maintenance, debt and money advice, and antisocial behaviour.

We’ve previously run similar intensive projects in communities in Farnworth and Great Holme, which have led to improved outcomes for customers and safer neighbourhoods.

The project started last week (Friday 7 August 2026) when we invited local children and families to take part in an event to create a sign for the new community hub which is operating from 7 Thornbank South.

The hub is a place where residents can speak directly with staff from different services and report issues in person, as well as accessing Be One Homes UCAN provision. You can tap here to learn more about services available at our UCAN centres.

This week, our colleagues were also joined at Thornbank by Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service for a High-Rise Action Day, which included a community clean up, resident surveys and home safety checks, including opportunities to report repairs. We’ll be sharing more on these Action Days next week.

Our colleagues were also on hand to offer energy saving advice and information about job and training support.

“The community events of recent days have been a great way to kick-off our Deane Focus Team project.

“This was another chance for us to listen to residents and understand their concerns and priorities, as well as share information about how we can help.

“We know there have been a range of ongoing and complex issues affecting residents in Thornbank, including antisocial behaviour. We want to ensure we’re working with residents to do something about it and in a way that makes the community safer and stronger.”
