Last week, we celebrated the completion of 116 new homes at Rivington Chase in Horwich.
Developed in partnership with Irwell Valley Homes and Caddick Construction, the scheme has transformed part of the former Loco Works site into a new neighbourhood. Be One Homes owns and manages 53 of the homes, providing much-needed affordable housing for local people and helping to meet growing demand across the area.
Support from Homes England and funding from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Brownfield Land Fund played an important role in bringing the development to life.
The homes have been designed with sustainability in mind, featuring enhanced insulation and solar panels to help residents reduce their energy bills and keep their homes warm.
Interest in the homes has been extremely high. Nearly 750 expressions of interest were received for the three-bedroom affordable rent homes alone, highlighting the need for good-quality, affordable housing in the area. The shared ownership homes are also helping more people take their first steps towards owning their own home.
To mark the completion of the development, residents, colleagues and partners came together last week to celebrate the new neighbourhood and welcome those who now call Rivington Chase home.
We were also pleased to welcome Kirith Entwistle MP, Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, who visited the development to learn more about how partnerships like this are helping to deliver much-needed affordable housing.
