New Chair takes up role with Be One Homes Board

Mark, who has been a member of our Board for the last four years and was previously Vice Chair and Senior Independent Director, takes over from Ian, who has held the role since 2019.

Mark was appointed following a formal recruitment process and brings a strong commitment to listening to customers and ensuring accountability, alongside supporting colleagues and continuing to improve services.

He becomes just the fourth Chair that Be One Homes, previously Bolton at Home, has had since the organisation was established in 2002.

Mark, a chartered accountant who has held senior leadership roles in the NHS and wider healthcare sector, said:

“I’m delighted to have been appointed to chair Be One Homes. I’ve relished being part of the Board for the last four years because I believe what we do really matters.

“Having a home that is safe and secure and being part of a community that supports us and that we can contribute to is important.

“This is a key moment as we move forward as Be One Homes. We’re continuing to improve how we deliver services, including through digital technology, and continuing to invest in the people who work here. That means giving them opportunities to learn and develop and recognising the work they do every day.

“Our values strongly resonate with me. That includes thinking about our impact on the environment, communicating openly and clearly, and being accountable for the decisions we make. Listening to customers and valuing all voices really matters, as does working together as one team and always looking for ways to improve.

“As Chair, I feel a clear sense of accountability to our customers on behalf of the Board. They are the reason we’re here, and their voice matters in shaping what we do.”

“I would like to thank Ian for the enormous contribution he has made during his time as Chair.

“We are incredibly grateful for the commitment, support, and leadership he has shown over many years, and thank him for everything he has done for us.

“I’m also delighted to welcome Mark as our new Chair. Mark brings valuable experience and a strong understanding of the organisation, and I’m looking forward to working with him in this new role.”

During his time as Chair, Ian Munro helped guide the organisation through and beyond the pandemic, supported the successful merger with Arcon Housing, played a key role in the transition to Be One Homes, and helped strengthen the organisation’s focus on its core purpose and long-term sustainability

The Be One Homes Board provides oversight of the organisation and its governance, working alongside the Executive Leadership Team, which is responsible for day-to-day operations and supporting its people.

Over recent weeks, Mark has been working closely with Ian and the wider Board as part of a planned handover, reflecting a carefully managed approach, and helping to maintain stability as the organisation continues to strengthen its services and support for customers.
